A bit about the beer

Ingredients - Water, Wheat Malt, Barley Malt, Hops, Yeast.

The brewery originated as the monastery brewery of the Benedictine monks, almost a thousand years ago. Today it is operating as a state directed enterprise, under control of the Bavarian government. It is the oldest still existing brewery in the world, which is very impressive in its own right. Over the centuries technology have allowed for different brewing techniques to be incorporated allowing a greater variety of beers to be produced, but the brewery has never forgotten their own history and their own high standards of making beer.

This is especially evident when tasting the Hefeweissbier Dunkel, or Dark Wheat beer. Wheat beers are not for everyone, you either like them or you don't.

The Hefeweiss Dunkel has a fruity and fresh sweetness with some hints of bananas combined with flavours of roasted malt and light caramel. Its a sparkling, full-bodied beer.

When poured it has a cloudy, dark, almost mahogany color and a thick fluffy white head.

Packed with aromas, lots of grain, wheaty tang and lots of fruity yeast.

This is a very refreshing beer, and if you enjoy Weiss, then you will love this. No wonder it is rated as highly as it is around the world.
