A bit about the beer

Ingredients - Water, Hops, Malted Barley and nothing else

Tafel Lager is brewed in accordance to the German Purity Law (Reinheitsgebot) of 1516 using only hops, malted barley, water and nothing else.

The beer originated at the Hansa Brewery in Swakopmund, Namibia and as per the official description can be described as "the ideal balance between refreshment, flavour and bitterness, which makes it the perfect companion for any occasion", earning it numerous international beer awards, including a Gold Medal at the Deutsche Landwirtschafts Gesellschaft Quality Evaluation.

For me, poured from a 330ml bottle it has a clear golden colour with a reasonable white head. Aromas of malt and grain with a hint of hops is prevalent, smells like a lager should. The taste is well balanced, it has notes of malt sweetness followed by a decent bitterness to counter and a crisp finish. The aftertaste is just not great and leaves a bit to be desired. All and all a very satisfying lager, clean and well made and best enjoyed ice cold!
